TxGold - Getting Started

Getting started with TxGold takes a few minutes. Ready?

Before you begin, please review the user agreement, confirm your eligibility to use TxGold, and generate a Validation Code.

If you are an “advanced” user (i.e. you already have an existing Stellar wallet), you can click here to get started.

TxGold - User Agreement

TxGold is currently available to residents in all countries - including many (but not all) of the U.S. states.
Please confirm your eligibility to send/receive TxGold before beginning the registration process.

Confirm eligibility to use TxGold

Step 1 - Install a Digital Wallet. TxGold is sent and received using a digital wallet.

  • We are working on developing our own wallet but, for now, we will use a wallet called Interstellar (it is free - and available on a variety of platforms).

  • Download and Install the wallet for your computer/device

  • Notes

    • When you open the wallet for the first time, you may see a “Welcome” page; go ahead and click the arrow to scroll through these pages.

    • You may also need to “read and accept the Terms and Conditions”. Do this, and then click the Continue button.

  • The first screen you see will is a Login page - with a “New Session Password” section. Enter a password.

New Session Password. Think of this like a “pin code” that will prevent someone (who gains access to your device/computer) from getting into your wallet.

  • Next, you need to create a new wallet (this may seem a bit confusing, but you can actually have multiple “wallets” within this wallet application; we just need one wallet)

  • Click the Create button to create a new wallet - and then select the Generate Random Key option (on a mobile device, it says “Generate Random Wallet”)

Adding a New Wallet on a mobile device (choose the Generate Random Wallet option).

The wallet is created. You will see your secret key (don’t share this with anyone!), and you will need to check a few boxes acknowledging that, without this secret key, you will be unable to access any funds in your wallet.

  • Your secret key is safe and secure - as long as no-one gains access to your phone/computer (and gets into the Interstellar application) - and as long as your phone/computer continues to work!

  • You should write down and securely store your secret key in the event your device is lost/stolen/damaged. You should do this now, but you can do it later from either the Settings area (for mobile devices) or from the Backup area (for computers).

Keep the Interstellar app open - you will need it to for the next step. Bonus - if you want to install Interstellar on other devices (e.g., one for your phone, another for your computer), go ahead and do so now. We allow you to register up to 5 wallets.

Step 2 - “Fund” your Wallet(s) and create a “Trustline”.

A digital wallet sends and receives information on a large, distributed network (“blockchain”). The network uses its own internal tokens (kind of like using tokens on a subway) as a means of payment. Your wallet(s) need to be first funded with “XLM” tokens before you can do other things (like use TxGold!). Don’t worry, we are going to take care of this for you right now.

  • Back in your Interstellar wallet, you should see a screen that looks like the following. Click where it says “Public Key: G….”. Alternatively, you can select “Receive” button from the Menu (i.e. the 3-lines at the top left-hand corner) and click the key-code. Either way, it will copy a 56-character code to your clipboard.

Click where it says “Public Key:” This will copy the public key to your clipboard.

  • Now, Paste your public key(s) into the text box below and click the Send Public Key(s) button (we will send XML tokens to your account(s)).

Copy/Paste up to 5 Public Keys (separated by commas).

Back in your Interstellar wallet, you will soon see that you have a small balance of XLM tokens. Now, you can add TxGold to the wallet as well. At this point, you are not adding TxGold tokens; instead, you are merely saying that you “trust” the issuer of TxGold (us).

  • As shown in the screenshot, Click the Settings button (if your Interstellar wallet doesn’t look like the screenshot, go to the “Home” page).

    • If you are running the Windows version of Interstellar, you will instead click on the Add More… link. You will then click on the Magnifying Glass icon to search for TxGold

  • Next, Click the ADD COIN/TRUSTLINE button (on a phone, you may need to scroll down a bit to see this button).

Wallet has be funded with XLM tokens. Click Settings - and then click the ADD COIN/TRUSTLINE button (you may need to scroll down a bit on a phone to see the button).

  • In the Select Asset window, choose the option All (Unverified), and then type TxGold. You will see the TxGold token in the search results; click it.

Adding TxGold asset to a wallet. Choose All (Unverified) - and search for TxGold. Note - In the Windows version of Interstellar, you will need to select TxGold from a list of search results - it should be the first row returned (TxGold, from issuer www.RestoreMoney.org).

After clicking the TxGold icon, make sure you click Add to confirm your selection! Then, Click the Home link (from the Menu) - TxGold should now be added!

Home page of the Wallet. TxGold has been added a trusted asset!

Step 3 (almost done!) - Register as a New User. To comply with U.S. financial regulations, we need to collect/verify a small set of information. Please make sure the name and date of birth match your driver’s license/id card/passport.

Next Steps - Acquire TxGold tokens! If you have a friend or customer who wants to send you TxGold, congratulations! Hit Receive in your wallet, and then provide them your Address/QR Code. Otherwise, here are a few ways to acquire TxGold:

  1. Purchase gold coins (1 oz American Eagle or 1 oz American Buffalo) from one of the following companies - and have them ship the gold directly to the Texas Bullion Depository -

    • Wholesale Coins Direct. Purchases can be made with ECheck/Wire or Credit Card/PayPal

    • JM Bullion. This company accepts BitCoin payments (in addition to check/CC/PayPal).

    • NOTE. Before you make a purchase, you need to first contact us via email (support@restoremoney.org) and tell us about your planned purchase. We will respond with a “packing slip” that will need to be included in your order. The packing slip, which contains the physical shipping address and other information, can be provided to Wholesales Coins/JM Bullion via email, over the phone, or with your physical check (if using that payment option).

  2. Ship your existing gold (minted coins only, as of now) to the Texas Bullion Depository. Before you do this, you need to first contact us via email (support@restoremoney.org) and tell us about your planned shipment - including the amount, type, and pictures of your gold coins. We will then respond with next steps.

  3. Initiate a transfer of holdings (for existing Texas Bullion Depository account holders). Before you do this, you need to first contact us via email (support@restoremoney.org) and tell us about your planned transfer - including the amount and type of your gold coins. We will then respond with next steps.
